Neon Genesis Evangelion — "A Cruel Angel's Thesis"
"A Cruel Angel's Thesis" ("Zankoku na Tenshi no Tēze") is as iconic as the legendary anime it introduces. It is both inspirational and haunting, upbeat and overwhelming. It's consistently one of the most popular karaoke songs chosen in Japan, and for good reason—it's incredibly fun to sing.
Cowboy Bebop — "Tank!"
Frequently topping lists of the greatest anime themes of all time, Yoko Kanno's "Tank!" is a big band, hard bop jazz piece that manages to do the impossible: to capture the dynamic pacing and mood of Cowboy Bebop and its characters.
Shigofumi — "Kotodama"
What "Kotodama" lacks in intrinsic singability it makes up for in beautifully arranged harmonies, complicated melodies, and an overall richness of sound. It's the kind of theme that reveals something unique during each new listen.
Case Closed — "The Pounding of My Heart"
Essentially the opposite of "Kotodama," "The Pounding of My Heart" ("Mune ga Dokidoki") is a light-hearted pop ballad that plays on Case Closed's romantic subplot as well as its youthful cast of characters. A particularly good song to sing in the shower.
