The DC Comics’ superhero isn’t getting her own spinoff, a representative for the network told BuzzFeed News.
Sad news, DC Comics lovers. The rumors are not true — Hawkgirl won't be flying solo on The CW anytime soon.
On Sunday, reports began surfacing that the network was developing a series about one of DC's female superheroes Hawkgirl. However, a representative for the network shot down the rumors when contacted by BuzzFeed News, stating that because Hawkgirl is in The CW's upcoming series Legends of Tomorrow (where she'll be played by Ciara Renee), the network isn't developing a standalone Hawkgirl series.
Legends of Tomorrow is a spinoff of two other successful DC Comics-based series on The CW: Arrow and The Flash. The characters will "criss-cross when needed," The CW's president Mark Pedowitz told reporters during a conference call in May. In addition to Renee's Hawkgirl, the show will star White Canary (Caity Lotz) and Black Canary (Katie Cassidy).
The new DC show is scheduled to premiere midseason in the 2015-2016 season.
