I think I got my first taste of Slashdot back in 2004. A post of mine about a sleazy camera operator who was using bait and switch tactics on unsuspecting customers was published there. With all of the attention from Slashdot and Digg, the sleazy store was put out of business. Since that first story, over the years as a blogger I've had lots of other stories show up on Slashdot from time to time -- and whenever it happened I enjoyed the traffic, but enjoyed the sarcastic comments and dark humor at Slashdot even more. Slashdot is a wonderful sort of home grown geek community that holds a very special place in the history of the web.
So I was especially pleased this morning after I realized that the dude sitting across from me at breakfast was none of other than Cmdr Taco himself, (former) Slashdot Founder and Editor-in-Chief himself
+Rob Malda Anyways, Rob's a very nice extra geeky guy (who shoots Canon) and who is also here with
+Ford Motor Company taking photos at the North American International Auto Show. He's also a big Google+ fan and this is the primary social network on the web where he posts these days, so I thought that was cool too. :)
