Keeping your job search safe

Hello Snagajob member, There are many steps critical to a successful job search that we talk about on Snagajob.com: keeping your profile updated, double-checking your applications for errors before submitting them, and networking with friends and family who can help you land a new job. One of the most important steps to take is being mindful of your safety. Snagajob takes great measures to protect our members by looking out for potential scams and monitoring our systems for potential weaknesses. To that end, we recently detected a third-party attempt to access our email list that could have allowed certain email addresses of some Snagajob members to be copied, which could cause you to receive unwanted email. No personal information was compromised. Here are three actions you can take to keep your job search safe on Snagajob and wherever you may be looking for your next job. Beware of potential phishing attacks. Phishing occurs when someone impersonating a credible company or website emails you and attempts to trick you into giving out personal information. And, it can often appear convincing. Snagajob does not request your credit card, bank account or personal health information. And we will not ask for your password via email. Social Security numbers are only requested by employers when you’re applying for a specific job posting. See tips to avoid phishing. Report suspicious activity. If you suspect that a job posting on Snagajob.com appears less than credible, contact us at besafe@snagajob.com and we’ll check it out. If you suspect you’ve been the victim of fraud or attempted fraud, file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center – a partnership between the FBI and National White Collar Crime Center.
